The Band Boosters set a budget based on the income from participation fees and fundraisers. A major part of our expenses occurs in late Summer into early Fall. Below is a breakdown of participation fees in more detail. This year the base participation fee is $160. Band Members that own their own instrument: $160 participation fee + $35 shoes + $5 gloves + $10 show shirt = $210 Percussion (including Pit): $160 participation fee + $35 shoes + $10 show shirt = $205 Color Guard: $160 participation fee + $60 shoes + $10 show shirt = $230 Please remember, one new pair of gloves are given out every year. All incoming new marchers need shoes OR if new shoes are needed the $35 fee will be charged ($60 for Color Guard). We ask that participation fees be paid at Registration Night. The participation fee increases to $185 if paid after the end of band camp and increases to $205 if paid after the end of September. The fees for shoes, gloves and show shirt remain the same. You will see that payments do increase as the year progresses. Payments can be made in the form of cash, money order, check or credit card made out to Kalamazoo Central Band Boosters. If your student has money in their student account, the money may be taken from their account. There are many options to assist with payments of participation fees. If you feel you need assistance to cover these fees, please email Melissa Wilson at [email protected] to set up a payment plan. She will be the only one to have access to this information. Arrangements must be made with Melissa Wilson by/on Registration Night. |
Volunteers Needed Looking to Volunteer? There are still plenty of opportunities!
For a list of ALL the different ways for parents to volunteer, the following form is available for download: Parent Volunteer Form Background Record Check Concession Stand Volunteers The marching band manages the concessions for Kalamazoo Central HS. This brings in $4,000 per year for the band. We need volunteers to work the different concessions throughout the school year. If you can help, please contact Lynn Berlin at [email protected] or (312)925-0022. Thank you so much parents! We couldn't do what we do without your support. Parent Chaperones We need parents to ride the bus with students to and from on our Saturday competitions and our weekday MSBOA festival. If you are interested in chaperoning competitions this marching season, please contact Lynn Berlin at [email protected] or (312)925-0022. See online calendar for competition dates and locations. We will need 4-6 parents per competition depending on who the staff are riding the bus. All parent chaperones must pass a background check. If you wish to chaperone, please complete and sign the form below as soon as possible. You may return the form to Lynn in person or by email. We will need a completed background check prior to chaperoning. Lynn would like to have a small/short informational meeting with anyone willing to do this. It’s a fantastic way to get your feet wet as a first time band parent. The kids are a lot of fun. This is how a lot of our parents and Boosters got started with volunteering.
