Spectator Etiquette
- Stay seated – do not enter or leave the stands during a performance…it’s distracting. Come and go before or after a performance.
- Respect other spectators around you in the stands – don’t make comments about individuals or performances. All students and bands deserve support and a positive attitude from visitors.
- Watch each band as though it were your own and applaud every band as they exit.
- Please silence your cell phones and other electronic equipment – capture memories without interfering with those around you.

MSBOA Marching Band Festival - October 14
(Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association)
Location: To Be Determined
MSBOA Marching Band Festivals are held at the District level only. There is not a State Marching Band Festival. At the Festival, Marching Bands are adjudicated by three judges one in each of the following captions: Music, Marching and General Effect Showmanship. A group may enter any classification the director chooses. A final rating is determined by a predominance of ratings. Each band has a 15 minute block of time to enter the field, perform their show and exit the field.
Information via MSBOA website at the following link: www.msboa.org
The Kalamazoo Central Marching Band has earned top honors by receiving a Division I rating (the highest rating) for 15 straight years at MSBOA marching festivals. The event is not a competition but a standard set by the state in which the band achieves at higher levels as it masters those concepts. “According to those standards established by the state, we are performing at the highest level possible.” – Dan Stout, Band Director.
